Frequently Asked Questions
Cadmus Platform
What size agencies does Cadmus support?
Scalability Without Compromise. Cadmus is designed to be the operational nervous system for facilities of any size. Our architecture is uniquely elastic; we currently support agencies ranging from small, 2-bed municipal lockups to large-scale county facilities with an Average Daily Population (ADP) of nearly 2,000. Whether you are a small township or a high-volume metropolitan jail, you receive the same enterprise-grade security and "insanely great" user experience.
Does Cadmus require on-site server hardware?
Zero-Footprint Cloud Sovereignty. No. Cadmus is a 100% cloud-native SaaS platform. We utilize Microsoft Azure and Azure Government Hyperscale servers to ensure maximum uptime, compliance, and redundant data protection. By eliminating the need for on-site servers, we remove the burden of hardware maintenance and "server room" overhead from your IT staff, allowing your team to focus exclusively on public safety.
How does the system handle inmate verification and tracking?
Multi-Modal Accountability. Cadmus supports a wide array of verification technologies to ensure the right action is performed on the right individual. Our system is fully compatible with NFC-enabled badges, QR/barcode bracelets, and hand-held scanning devices. For high-security environments and release verification, we offer integrated facial recognition, creating an immutable record of identity at every critical touchpoint -- from intake and med-pass to final release.
Can Cadmus integrate with my agency's existing systems?
An Interoperable Ecosystem. Absolutely. Cadmus is built on a philosophy of "Modular Excellence." While The Grid (CAD, JMS, EMR, FIT, and RMS) provides the most power when used as a unified ecosystem, we are engineered for deep integration. Whether you need a single module to fill a gap in your current workflow or a full-stack replacement of legacy software, Cadmus uses modern API standards to ensure data flows seamlessly between our platform and your existing third-party vendors.
Is Cadmus available in my state?
Rapid National Expansion. Yes. As of early 2026, Cadmus is actively serving agencies across one-third of the United States. Driven by our level of Customer Service and a robust partner network, our footprint is expanding rapidly; we are on track to support agencies in approximately half of the U.S. by the start of 2027. Our system is designed to adapt to the specific regulatory and reporting standards of each state we enter.
E-Prescribing
Can providers prescribe any medication?
Yes. Our system provides access to all FDA-approved medications. While facilities may maintain formularies, prescribers can access and prescribe non-formulary medications when clinically appropriate. See Prescriber Choice for details.
Does Cadmus support controlled substance prescribing?
Yes. Our EPCS (Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances) module is DEA-compliant and meets requirements under 21 CFR Part 1311. EPCS includes two-factor authentication and identity proofing. See EPCS details.
How does pharmacy routing work in correctional settings?
During incarceration, prescriptions typically route to facility-contracted pharmacies for security and operational reasons. For release prescriptions or specialty medications, the system supports routing to any community pharmacy via the Surescripts network.
Can patients choose their pharmacy?
For release prescriptions and situations where community pharmacy access is permitted, patients can select any pharmacy. During incarceration, pharmacy selection is determined by facility operations, not system limitations.
Privacy & Security
Is patient information protected?
Yes. We comply with HIPAA requirements and maintain Business Associate Agreements with all facility clients. Our platform includes role-based access controls, audit logging, and encryption of protected health information.
Who can access patient records?
Access is limited to authorized healthcare personnel at each facility based on their role. All access is logged for audit purposes.
What happens to health records when an inmate is released?
Facilities determine records retention and transfer policies. Our platform supports continuity of care documentation and, where authorized, health information exchange for reentry coordination.
Technical
Is Cadmus cloud-based?
Yes. Our platform is hosted in secure, HIPAA-compliant data centers with redundancy and disaster recovery capabilities.
Does the system work offline?
Yes. Our platform includes offline capability for medication administration, essential clinical functions, and operational logging (Scribe) during connectivity interruptions. Data synchronizes automatically when connectivity is restored.
What training is provided?
We provide comprehensive implementation training, ongoing education resources, and technical support for all facility users.
